MINI Digital KAWAII INTERVIEW - Chocolat Chaud Creations

Continuing along with our digi-views! (Digital interview horay!) From the saftey of GHOST GiRL Headquarters, right to your computer screen!

Our second digi-view is with Chocolat Chaud Creations! A once local brand from Quebec, now residing in Aichi, Japan!

Cloe - Designer and Owner of Chocolat Chaud

Cloe and I met, surprisingly, NOT in Canada! We actually met in Japan! I had seen her booth at Anime North 2018, but didn't get the chance to go over and say hi (because the con itself is always hustle bustle!) During my trip to Japan in 2018, where I was vending at Design Festa. (more on that experience in this blog post) She found out I was going to be at the event and then came by our booth! It was such a pleasant surprise.

(I snapped this photo of her when she came by the Design Festa booth!)

Cloe doesn't remember the exact time she started up her brand, but she believes it was around 2014. She remembers specifically it was during a time when her health took a turn for the worst and she realized that she probably wouldn't be able to work a normal job. She has always been very creative, but had fear that she wouldn't be able to make a living with her art. Life gave her the push she needed to start her brand and then...she went for it! I asked Cloe what message she wants to convey with Chocolat Chaud. She replied with:

"I just want to share the things I love with the world, make people smile and add a bit of magic to everyone's daily life. I find expressing myself through clothing very therapeutic and I'd like to encourage people to try it for themselves."

In many of Cloe's designs, it is VERY APPARENT that she absolutely adores kitties (especially her own, Jack!) However, her most favourite piece out of all that she has designed is her Ita Overall Skirt! She loves being able to see how people customize and express their style with it. (via the heart shaped pocked on the front)

(A photo taken from Chocolat Chaud's instagram! @sugar.gabou coordinated her Ita Overall Skirt perfectly!)

Cloe mentions that people can expect both super colorful and dark witchy creations from her in the future.

"I'm working on a ton of new projects and I can't wait to share them with everyone!"

(One of Cloe's newer pieces! An all black take on her Heart Pocket Dress)

Lastly, I asked Cloe what is something she's most proud of:

I'm proud I never gave up no matter how hard it was, even when almost everyone I knew thought it was impossible for me to make a living with my creations.

Thanks for answering Cloe! And thank you all for reading. Be sure to check out the Chocolat Chaud social networks and website, and check out our other blog posts on KAWAII INTERVIEWS, events I've attended, and more!
